Important Notice

JAPAN eVISA starts from 27 March 2023
For short-term visa for length of stay not exceeding 90 days with the purpose of TOURISM(Single entry only) you can apply online and receive an electronic visa.

※Please beware of fraud websites looking alike the JAPAN eVISA website.
Longer processing time is to be expected due to an extremely high volume of eVISA applications currently. Please make sure to apply early (it is advisable to submit your application at least 1 month in advance).

All applications other than the type of visa mentioned above(e.g. Multiple-entry, business, domestic helper, long-term stay or spouse of Japanese visas) have to be submitted at the Embassy. Please note that walk-ins are not allowed for visa application submission.

ATTENTION ALL VISITORS: For security reasons, visitors are required to produce ORIGINAL personal identification document with facial photo, e.g. Passport, NRIC or Identity Card to enter Embassy’s premises. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

2. Visa Exemption Arrangement (Short-term stay)

Japan has Visa Exemption Arrangements with 68 countries and regions. Singapore is one of the visa exemption countries for 90 days temporary visit. Please click here for the list of Visa Exemption countries.
 

3. Required documents for visa application

4. Procedure

It takes at least 5 working days to process a visa application submitted at the Embassy if there are no issues with the documents submitted.
For JAPAN eVISA application, a notification will be sent to you by email once the visa is approved. The processing period may take a longer time depending on the volume of applications received.
※Please note that the Embassy will not respond to any inquiries about the eVISA processing period as the notification will be sent to you directly from JAPAN eVISA system.

Depending on the travel purpose or individual circumstances, applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documents and referral to our HQ, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan(MOFA) may be required. For such cases, more time may be required for visa approval to be granted. The Embassy does not accept requests for same-day issuance nor expedite cases due to personal reasons.
 

5. Visa Fee

For applications submitted at the Embassy, payment must be made upon collection of visa, in CASH only. (Personal checks, credit/debit cards and electronic payment are NOT accepted.)

For JAPAN eVISA, payment can be done either by CREDIT CARD or CASH
Visa Issuance Notice will be sent to you within 2-3 working days by email after payment is complete.
For payment by credit card, you shall register the credit card information through JAPAN eVISA system.
For payment by cash, you are required to come to the Embassy to make payment after you receive the payment notice by email.
Counter hours for eVISA cash payment at the Embassy: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM (Please make sure to check our Embassy holidays)
*Appointment is NOT required.
*Please bring a printed copy of the eVISA Registration information form to make payment at the Embassy.
*Original personal identification document with facial photo (e.g. Passport, NRIC or Identity Card) is required to enter Embassy’s premises.
