How long does visa processing take?

Normally, a visa can be issued in 5 working days if all the requirements are met. However, there are certain cases which require referral to the government office in Japan. Such referral cases may take up to 2 months for results. Therefore, we recommend that you plan your trip early to avoid inconvenience of delay. Urgent or express visa is NOT available.
Passport submitted for visa processing will not be returned during the processing period. Collection of passport is strictly between 1:30pm to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (except Embassy holidays). We DO NOT entertain any request for return of passport outside operating hours regardless of circumstances.
