Relevance of Yayoi Kusama’s Art Today: A talk on Yayoi Kusama by Mr Reuben Keehan

Overview

For the past one month at JCC, we had the pleasure of sharing information and experiences revolving around the education and art scene! It was a wonderful surprise for us to learn that many guests express an interest in the opportunities to learn more in Japan and about Japan, such as the 2018 MEXT Scholarship and the JENESYS Programme. We also personally witnessed the popularity of Yayoi Kusama's art in Singapore during the talk by Mr Reuben Keehan, and hope that everyone will be able to view her 'Life is the heart of a rainbow' exhibition at National Gallery Singapore with newfound perspectives.

As we enter the second half of 2017, be sure to stay tuned to our upcoming events which will be touching on the traditional side of Japanese culture! This includes the well-received annual Yukata Workshop, and an exhibition which will re-imagine Ishikawa's Traditional Crafts. Our ongoing JENESYS2016 Exhibition will be running till 15 July 2017, so do drop by and visit JCC before it ends!

Overview of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS)

QZSS is a Japanese satellite positioning system composed mainly of satellites in quasi-zenith orbits (QZO). However, the term “Quasi-Zenith Satellite (QZS)” can refer to both satellites in QZO and geostationary orbits (GEO). For that reason, the name “QZO satellite” is used when it is necessary to specifically refer to satellites in QZO. Satellite positioning systems use satellite signals to calculate position information. One famous example is the American Global Positioning System (GPS); the QZSS is sometimes called...(Click to read more)
