Important Notice

☞Japan Visa Application Centre (JVAC)☜ has started operations from 1 September 2025.
※Please directly check JVAC website above for detailed application procedures.

Thereafter, only the following cases may be submitted by the applicants in-person at the Embassy:

Diplomatic or Official Visas
Re-entry Permit Extension
Visa Transfer
Visa Waiver registration (State of Qatar nationals)

※ During this time, only physical applications will be accepted through JVAC. eVISA system will not be available for use until further notice. Approved applications with visa fees unpaid by 21 September will be automatically cancelled.

ATTENTION ALL VISITORS: For security reasons, visitors are required to produce ORIGINAL personal identification document with facial photo (Passport, NRIC or Pass Card) along with an appointment confirmation email to enter Embassy’s premises. Your cooperation and understanding is appreciated.

Application Procedures

Please only apply for a visa within 3 months of your intended travel date.

Application through JVAC (Japan Visa Application Centre)

（1）In-person
Applications are accepted during weekdays only. Opening hours can be found here. Upon acceptance, a receipt with an 8-digit reference number will be issued to the JVAC.

（2）eVISA

※Please note that the Embassy will not respond to any enquiries about processing time for applications submitted through the JVAC. You may use the 'Track your application' page to check your application status.

Application at the Embassy

It takes at least 5 working days to process applications submitted at the Embassy if there are no issues with the documents submitted.
Walk-ins are not allowed, please make an appointment first before coming to the Embassy.

※Depending on the travel purpose or individual circumstances, applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documents and referral to our HQ, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan(MOFA) may be required. For such cases, more time may be required for visa approval to be granted. The Embassy does not accept requests for same-day issuance nor expedite cases due to personal reasons.

1. Visa Exemption Arrangement (Short-term stay)

Japan has Visa Exemption Arrangements with 73 countries and regions. Singapore nationals do not require a visa for up to 90 days stay as a Temporary Visitor.

For applications submitted at the JVAC, please take note that additional handling fee is necessary for processing the application. Please check the JVAC website for the rate/handling fees.

For applications submitted at the Embassy, payment must be made upon collection of visa, in CASH only. (Personal checks, credit/debit cards and electronic payment are NOT accepted.)
