The Award Ceremony for the 2021 Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation

On 26 January 2022, H.E. Ambassador Yamazaki conferred an award on Tetsuyu Healthcare Holdings, a Singapore startup, for the 2021 Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation (HAPI), Grand Prize for Technologies and Innovation.
 
HAPI is an award program established in 2020 with the aim of acknowledging and amplifying innovative initiatives to help address various challenges facing aging societies. This award program, which is an initiative of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE), is carried out under the auspices of the Japanese Government's Asia Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AHWIN). There are three categories of Grand Prize, which are: “Technology & Innovation,” “Community Based Initiatives” and “Self-Reliance.”
 
For 2021, a wide array of creative ideas were submitted by organizations in East and Southeast Asia. After rigorous selection process, 10 organizations were selected as winners, and a Singapore startup, Tetsuyu Healthcare Holdings has been awarded the 2021 Grand Prize for Technology & Innovation for its CARES4WOUNDS.
 
Tetsuyu Healthcare Holdings developed the CARES4WOUNDS, which harnesses digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable an effective system for wound assessment and management. Specifically, CARES4WOUNDS comprises of a mobile app for automatic measurement of wounds and a web system for remote monitoring and teleconsultation. The mobile app is a breakthrough in that it allows non-contact wound assessment, which reduces the risk of infection and distress to patients compared to traditional assessment methods. The web system also allows a more efficient and effective treatment of patients as it enables easier access to patient data and facilitates frequent consultations and timely interventions.
