Conferment of The Foreign Minister’s Commendation on Mr. Kenneth Tan

1. On 1 December 2020, Chairman of the Singapore Film Society (SFS), Mr. Kenneth Tan, was conferred the Commendation of the Foreign Minister of Japan. 
2. With over thirty years’ experience in the media industry, Mr. Tan has held top management positions in Mediacorp, Golden Village, and the Info-communications Media Development Authority. 
3. In 1983, he worked on his very first Japanese Film Festival with the Embassy of Japan in Singapore.  Since then, he has continually worked to bridge generations of partnerships between Singapore and Japanese creatives and co-organising partners such as The Japan Foundation, and the Japan Creative Centre to strengthen the presence of Japanese films in Singapore.
4. His dedication to the promotion of Japan’s rich film repertoire has earned him the prestigious Commendation of the Foreign Minister of Japan.
5. The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
