Have there been any outbreaks within Japan?
As of 10th August 2016, there have been no reported cases of infections within Japan. There have been 10 reported cases of infections found in Japan among people who have travelled overseas to countries with active transmission of Zika virus since 2013. (Of which, 7 cases were reported after the current outbreak in Central and South America.)Is there a chance of getting infected with the Zika virus in Japan?
As of 10th August 2016, there have been no outbreaks within Japan. But while the chances might be low, there is still a possibility of infection if a mosquito transmits the Zika virus within Japan, from a person who has been infected while travelling to a country with active transmission of Zika virus (whom may be Japanese or a foreigner).
