2024/1/26

On 19 January 2024, H.E. Ambassador Hiroshi Ishikawa celebrated the Commendation of HIBIKIYA by the Foreign Minister of Japan.
The Commendation was awarded to Hibikiya in recognition of its contribution to the promotion of Japanese culture in Singapore through its various activities in the country.
HIBIKIYA has worked hard in introducing people to vibrant performances of Japanese traditional arts. Aside from taiko, they also perform geinoh (performing arts) such as Shishimai (Japanese lion dance), Oni Kenbai (sword dance) and Sansa Odori (traditional group dance). Their courage in introducing traditional cultures that are still not commonly known to Singaporeans is a testament to their love and passion towards Japanese culture.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
Our heartfelt congratulations to HIBIKIYA!
