Love and Mercy: Into the World of Bunraku

Overview

Happy 10th Anniversary to JCC! Our JCC10 celebrations reached a climax with the first ever complete Bunraku performance in Singapore at Drama Centre Theatre on 22 and 23 October 2019. Furthermore, there was a lecture and demonstration held at JCC, where the audience had an up close and personal opportunity to learn about and watch Bunraku. We were delighted to be able to introduce the charms of this UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage to many people here.

While the year draws to a close, our celebrations will still continue! Be sure to visit JCC from mid-November onwards to find out more about Niigata gastronomy and craftsmanship. Nomarin will also be back Singapore to perform Kamishibai at the local libraries. Do join us for these exciting events!

Tori no Ichi (The Festival of the Rooster)

A number of Shinto shrines around the country hold a lively "festival of the rooster" in November. These festivals, which last throughout the night, are held on the days of the rooster in November.
