A Slice of Niigata Food Culture
- Experience Gastronomy with Tsubame Sanjo -

16 - 23 November 2019

Japan Creative Centre (JCC)

Japan's premiere rice belt, Niigata, is famous for its high-quality food and agricultural products. Niigata is also home to Tsubame-Sanjo, a world-class metalworking region.

About the Exhibition

Niigata is blessed with both fertile soil and clean water, and historically had a booming agricultural industry. This industry has been sustained since the Edo Period when Niigata boasted the greatest population in Japan, when people came for the local produce and other goods. At the same time, a metalworking industry connected to the one today sprouted. The delicious food and excellent tools continued to cultivate each other’s character and improve each other even today. Niigata Prefecture would now love for Singaporeans to come and experience the food and tools that the people of Niigata love.

In this two-part exhibition, guests will be able to experience Niigata's food through trying it yourself, so please feel free to visit JCC twice to get a taste of both parts! The first half of this exhibition will feature content from the popular Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival. The second half will showcase food and culinary tools from throughout Niigata. Experience it all first-hand at JCC!
