June proved to be a particularly exciting month for JCC as we welcomed “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” exhibition. It was also a great honour to have Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visit JCC to officially open the “Beauty of Kogei : Art Crafts in Japan” Exhibition. A symposium at National Design Centre and a workshop at Temasek Polytechnic were also held in conjunction with the exhibition.


1.1 Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to JCC

On the 31st of May, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from Japan visited JCC for the first time. Amongst the guests present to greet Prime Minister Abe were Minister of State from MCCY, Mr Sam Tan, and Parliamentary Secretary from MCCY. Click to Read More


1.2 “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” Exhibition 

Co-organized by the Japan Foundation and National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” exhibition was held from the 31st of May till the 21st of June 2014. Click to Read More


1.3 “Opening Ceremony"

Apart from Prime Minister’s visit to open the exhibition, an opening reception was held on the evening of the 31st of May for invited guests. Gracing the occasion was President of the Japan Foundation H.E. Hiroyasu Ando. Click to Read More


1.4 Symposium at National Design Centre

Symposium "Contemporary Art Crafts in Asia" was one of the events held in conjunction with “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” exhibition. The symposium featured a panel of experts from various Southeast Asian countries. Click to Read More


1.5 Workshop held at Temasek  Polytechnic

The workshop at Temasek Polytechnic was the second event held in conjunction as part of “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” exhibition. At nine o’clock in the morning, Temasek Polytechnic students from various fields of design filed into the lecture hall for the lecture by ceramics artist Mr Iwao Shinno and a lecture and demonstration by bamboo artist Mr Shochiku Tanabe. 1.6 Japanese Film Festival

Japanese Film Festival 2014 presents 23 films from 26 June to 12 July 2014 at the National Museum of Singapore. Organised by  The  Japan Foundation, Japan Creative Centre, National Museum of Singapore, Singapore Film Society and Luna Films, this is the 21st edition of the festival in Singapore.
