Crescent Moon in the Rising Sun: TAMU 2018 Sharing Session
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Lunar New Year! It was a delight to have held an insightful sharing session at JCC by Talk on Muslims series (TAMU) 2018 Singaporean participants, in conjunction with The Japan Foundation Asia Center, Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) and Nissin Foods. Two participants shared more about their experience in Japan, and everyone also had the chance to try delicious Halal ramen.
For the month of March, JCC looks forwards to seeing you at Sakura Matsuri at Gardens By The Bay. At our All Japan Booth, we will disseminate all forms of information about Japan – be it tourism, trade and investment, innovation, local charms, culture, education and the JR system. You can also pen down your wishes on decorative tanabata paper! See you there!

Vernal Equinox Day and Higan
March 20 or 21 is Shunbun no Hi, or Vernal Equinox Day, a day when the sun crosses the equator making night and day equal in length. It's a national holiday in Japan, a day to commune with nature and to show our affection for all living things. The seven-day period starting three days before Vernal Equinox Day and ending three days after is called higan. Higan, which also occurs around Autumnal Equinox Day, is - along with New Year's and the bon festival in the summer - a time when we pay our respects to ancestors. Visits are made to the family grave, cleaning it and offering flowers and incense to console ancestral spirits. Following Vernal Equinox Day...(Click here to read more)
