~Put Our Hearts Together~

On 11th March, 2011, a mega earthquake and tsunami hit the northeastern Japan, leaving nearly 20,000 dead or missing. Many still remain evacuated from their hometowns as a result of the ensuing nuclear power plant accident. Since then Japan has made countless efforts in the way to recovery.
Japan Creative Centre (JCC) together with NHK Enterprises, Inc. will bring to you a series of TV documentaries reporting on the Japanese efforts to better tomorrow.
The screenings of recovery documentary series will take place every 11th of the month (excluding weekends) so as to symbolize the time that has passed since the disaster.
The first film will be shown on 11th July, 2012.
"Tomorrow Special ~Put Our Hearts Together~" is a documentary featuring a world-renown jazz pianist Bob James. Bob James visited Iwate Prefecture in northern Japan last September to take part in a local jazz festival. The area was one of the hardest hit by the disaster. He composed a special piece, "Put Your Hearts Together," which he dedicated to the disaster victims, and perform together with local amateur jazz musicians, who were also the victims of the disaster. Three months later, he visits Japan again to learn that his music provided emotional support to many, including the amateur musicians themselves.

One of the musicians, Bob James, visited tsunami-hit Iwate Prefecture to spend time with jazz fans from the area and perform with a local big band. This is a documentary that depicts truly heart-to-heart exchanges between people who are struggling to lead normal lives and a pianist who is doing whatever he can to support them.
