In conjunction with "COOL JAPAN MONTH", Japan Creative Centre (JCC) is pleased to present a lecture by Anime Character Designer and Illustrator, Mr. Haruhiko Mikimoto, and Director of Media Division of Kadokawa Shoten Publishing, Mr. Hideyuki Kobayashi. The lecture focuses on the characteristics of Japanese Anime and Manga and their future possibilities. This lecture will provide you with a better understanding of the creative spirits of Japanese artists, and also help you to explore more opportunities for international collaborations on anime production.

1. Lecture by Mr. Haruhiko Mikimoto and Mr. Hideyuki Kobayashi

During the lecture, Mr. Mikimoto will discuss the creative spirits of Japanese artists and the attractiveness of Japanese Anime and Manga. Mr. Kobayashi will then touch upon the characteristics and future possibilities of Japanese Anime and Manga.

2. Networking Session
DATE: Saturday, 12th November 2011
TIME: 7.00pm to 9.00pm
VENUE: Japan Creative Centre, 4 Nassim Road

The networking session will provide guests the business opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with Mr. Mikimoto and Mr. Kobayashi, as well as another special guest, Mr. Daisuke Okeda, from the General Information Bureau for Manga, Animation, Game and Media Art in Japan.


PROFILE OF HARUHIKO MIKIMOTO

Mr. Mikimoto is one of the most established anime character designers in Japan. He is also a renowned illustrator and Manga artist. With his exceptional creative talent, Mr. Mikimoto has produced many well-received works including Macross, Macross II, Eve from Megazone 23, High Speed Jecy, and his own Manga series Marionette Generation.

PROFILE OF HIDEAKI KOBAYASHI

Mr. Kobayashi is the director of the Media Division of Kadokawa Shoten Publishing which is one of Japan’s most renowned publishing companies. Mr. Kobayashi has significant experience in the creative content industries of Japan. Under Mr. Kobayashi’s fine leadership, Kadokawa Shoten Publishing continues to strive to produce popular Manga titles and magazines while making great effort to reinvent itself. In the recent years, Kadokawa Shoten Publishing has also ventured into the multimedia sector to produce quality video games and movies.

PROFILE OF DAISUKE OKEDA

Mr. Okeda is Attorney at Law and Coordinator, Animation, at the General Information Bureau for Manga, Animation, Game and Media Art. The Bureau is part of the Project Office for building networks of organizations as commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan.
