Japan Creative Centre (JCC) is pleased to present a one-day only flower arrangement demonstration by Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135. Two Ikebana demonstrators will be giving audience the chance to observe how simple materials are step by step transformed into beautiful works of art. There will also be a question and answer session at the end of the demonstration.

About Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135

The Singapore Chapter was founded by Lady Betty de la Mare and Mrs Monica Chan in 1968. I.I is committed to increasing international understanding through the appreciation of Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement and its related arts and culture. Over the years, I.I‘s membership has grown to more than 160 members. Its dedicated committee of volunteers work hard to plan interesting and innovative programmes featuring classical and contemporary Ikebana styles. Several times a year, I.I invites skilled Ikebana teachers to give demonstrations to the members and guests.

About The Demonstrators

Ms Hatsumi Kanatsu - Sogetsu School of Ikebana

Ms Kanatsu started learning Sogetsu School of Ikebana in 1987 at Kanagawa Prefecture and moved to Singapore in September 2011. She joined Singapore Sogetsu Association and Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 on October 2011. Ms Kanatsu has completed the teacher's course first grade, Jonin Somu on May 2012, under the president of Singapore Sogetsu Association, Ms. Kazue Kato Kim.

Beginning Ikebana in 1992 Ms Emmott was taught by Kasen Yoshimura in the Ryusei-ha Head master’s class. Qualifying as a Ryusei-ha free style master and learning traditional style Seika in Headmaster class. In 1997 she received the award for the ‘best newcomers’ from Ryusei-ha school being among the best newly qualified masters out of all of Japan. Ms Emmott joined Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 2010, and was appointed the role of Membership Chairman from 2011.
