Japan Creative Centre and Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 is proud to present "FLOWERS OF SINGAPORE", the flower exhibition in celebration of Singapore Botanic Gardens being declared as a Cultural Site of UNESCO World Heritage in July 2015.
Ikebana International (I.I.) will be showcasing a variety of arrangements for this exhibition. Flowers like Orchids, Ginger and Heliconias which are being preserved by the Singapore Botanic Gardens will be used in this exhibition.
I.I. was founded in 1956 with a commitment to increase international understanding through the appreciation of Ikebana - the Japanese Art of Flower arranging. Headquartered in Tokyo, I.I. has a total of 164 Global chapters in 60 countries and is run by its volunteers, while the Singapore Chapter was founded in 1968, with the consistent motto of 'Friendship Through Flowers'.

Ikebana demonstration will be conducted by Ms Josephine Chia from Sogetsu school and Ms Kathreen Meyer-Ohle from Ohara school on Saturday, 24th October 2015. The demonstration will be inspired by the exhibition theme.
Ms Josephine Chia obtained her very first Sogetsu Teacher's Diploma in 1981, and began teaching passionately from 1982 onwards. She is to date a Komon (Advisor), and is also a committee member of the S'pore Sogetsu Association in which she is actively involved since 1990. Ms Chia is a frequent exhibitor of Ikebana art. Her teaching experience has produced many avid practitioners.
Ms Kathreen Meyer-Ohle, is a native German who is living in Singapore since 2000. She is the Second Associate Master of the Ohara School, her connection with Ikebana started 20 years ago in Tokyo. Ms Kathreen frequently visits Japan to keep up with much more inspirations, to teach and exhibit her works.
