“Captured ! Moments in Japan” by Gail Pantin is a display of sketches and paintings with all the sketches created using a Japanese brush pen. Gail’s fascination with Japan began in her early youth and in 1995 she visited Japan for the first of many subsequent trips spent travelling and sketching her way through the country.
Join us at the Japan Creative Centre where you will be transported to Japan through a series of Japanese landscapes, architecture and city life! This exhibition features over 30 of Gail’s exquisite sketches from her visits to Japan over the years which will mesmerize viewers with their intricacy and detailed nature.
Gail has lived in Singapore since 1997 and this will be the perfect opportunity to meet her. “Captured! Moments in Japan” will be Gail’s final exhibition in Singapore prior to her return to take up residence once again in her birthplace of Trinidad and Tobago.

Gail Pantin was born and raised on the island of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean where her ancestors have lived for generations. As a young child, her passion for art and drawing was inspired by both the Caribbean and Asian cultures so prevalent on the island.
Her family emigrated to Canada when she was 15 years old and there she remained through her academic studies and initial years of her art career. She moved to Singapore in 1997 to accept a teaching role at Nanyang Polytechnic. She remained at Nanyang as a full-time faculty member for 13 years.
Gail currently paints full-time and teaches part-time at Republic Polytechnic as well as continues her frequent travels in Asia and Japan. She is also actively involved in community projects and leadership roles such as Community Art for Woodlands, Woodgrove and the Sembawang GRC.
