CROSS ENCOUNTER:
A COLLABORATION OF SEVEN ARTISTS FROM JAPAN AND SINGAPORE

Forging links between Singapore and Japan contemporary art, seven young artists from both countries come together in this exhibition. These young artists will present past and new artworks across a variety of mediums, from painting and sculpture, to photography and video. They have created these artworks in response to their own creative identities within the cultural context of both countries, consciously or not.

Cross Encounters also promotes the exchange of artistic knowledge, experiences and ideas between the artists from Japan and Singapore.

Three artists from Japan and four artists from Singapore will come together for the "Cross Encounter: A Collaboration of Seven Artists from Japan and Singapore" exhibition held in Japan Creative Centre.

JAPAN ARTISTS:-

  FUKUMOTO KENICHIRO
M.A. Fine Arts in Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan

Fukumoto Kenichiro graduated from B.A. Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan. Currently, he is studying in LASALLE College of the Arts as an exchange student. Fukumoto Kenichiro had also received numerous awards such as "Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program Scholarship (2012)" and "Nomura Incorporated Foundation". Fukumoto Kenichiro has had both solo and group exhibitions held in countries such as Japan, Singapore, Korea and others.
     
  AYANO HATTORI
M.A. of Fine Arts in LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

Ayano Hattori completed her B.A. Oil Painting at Musashino Art University, Tokyo. She received "The Dr. Winston Oh Travel Research" from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2011. She has had group exhibitions in Japan, USA, Myanmar and Singapore and joined performance festivals in Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and Singapore. Ayano Hattori: Intimate Strangers is her most recent exhibition at Project Space, Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore in 2013.

Ayano Hattori is a member of the Singapore Contemporary Young Artists (SCYA).
     
  TAKAHIRO YAMAMOTO
Studied in Spain for 3 years on drawing and painting

Takahiro Yamamoto participated in group exhibitions such as "NEW CITY ART FAIR" in New York and "Art O'clock" in Paris.

SINGAPORE ARTISTS:-

  KHAIRULLAH RAHIM
B.A. in Fine Art (Painting), LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

Khairullah Rahim is among the few to be selected for the "Youkobo Residency Program" in Tokyo, Japan with Ade Putra. Khairullah participated in several group exhibitions held in USA, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
     
  LUKE HENG
B.A. Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

Luke Heng has had his group exhibition at "Art Stage 2013" and the "Affordable Art Fair 2012" after he was selected for the Young Talent Programme.

Luke was also awarded "The Winston Oh Travel Award", which led to the participation of The Winston Oh Travelogue Show 2012.
     
  ADE PUTRA SAFAR BIN FUAD
B.A. Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

Ade Putra has had his recent exhibition "Pameran Poskad 2012" and ‘Pulse’ held in the art galleries in Singapore. Ade also participated in several exhibitions held in LASALLE College of the Arts.
     
  HILMI JOHANDI
B.A. in Fine Arts (Painting), LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

Currently pursuing his B.A. Fine Arts in LASALLE College of the Arts. Hilmi Johandi held his first solo exhibition, "Paintings By Hilmi Johandi" in Taberna Wine Bar, Singapore in 2011. Apart from his solo exhibition, Hilmi has also participated in numerous group exhibition.

By Public Bus:

By the MRT:

You may also take the MRT to the nearest MRT station, Orchard (NS22).

Driving to JCC:

Nearest parking is at Orchard Hotel, Delfi Orchard and Orchard Parade Hotel.

Please register early to avoid disappointment. We regret that as there is limited seating, seats will be confirmed only upon receipt of confirmation email from JCC.
