Two popular CG anime films by Jun Awazu, “NEGADON: the Monster from Mars” and “PLANZET”, will be screened at the event. NEGADON is the acclaimed 2005 CG-Animated Movie homage to Japanese great monster movies of good old time of Japan (ie. “Godzilla”). PLANZET, the follow-up to his trademark Retro VFX dubbed as “Japanese VFX for New Generation”, features a mind-blowing rendition of drama of yesteryear movies with Cutting-Edge CG Animation. The bold, dynamic drama and cliffhanger thrill of Japanese old special effects movies is resurrected while construction off universe is enhanced by mat painting, and the original digital filter to recreate the “film reel”.

During the Artist’s Talk, Mr. Awazu will be joined by Mr. Kazuki Sunami, Board Director of CoMix Wave Films. They will share their thoughts on the pursuit of innovative film expression and how Mr. Awazu extracted the best of new and old movie technologies to create the retro-special effect of PLANZET. The Q&A session will also present a rare opportunity for professionals within the industry and students-alike to learn about the creative process of a CG anime blockbuster production in Japan.
