IGPX (PG)

Saturday, 16 November 2013
2:00pm
(Registration starts at 1:30pm)

Held in conjunction with the upcoming JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters Exhibition at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (15 Nov- 12 Dec), JCC will be screening three episodes of an anime series "IGPX", directed by popular Japanese anime director, Mitsuru Hongo, who is probably best known for his directorial credits in the world-hit "Crayon Shin-Chan". "IGPX" is an original animated series created by Japan’s top anime studio, Production I.G and the world’s leading animation channel, Cartoon Network.

"IGPX" combines the talents of both Production I.G and Cartoon Network, establishing a new production paradigm. Blending the quality and style of anime with Western storytelling, "IGPX" is the first instance of a U.S.A. cable network working directly with a Japanese animation studio to create an original series.

For the November sharing session, JCC is delighted to have Mr. Mitsuru Hongo, Director of IGPX, to come down to Japan Creative Centre to give an Artist Talk. He will be providing an insight into the Japanese world of Animation, as well as talking about the Animation scene in Japan in comparison to other countries.

This is a RARE and VALUABLE opportunity to meet and hear from an acclaimed Anime Director, and as seats are limited, do register early to ensure a place for yourself.

In the year 2048, people are raving about a fighting race called "Immortal Grand Prix", or IGPX in short, which is faster and more exciting than any of the existing motor sports. The phenomenon is so big that an entire city was built for the racing industry where competitions take place on a huge track. In the "Immortal Grand Prix," two teams of three IG machines, high-tech humanoid mechs driven by humans, race at speeds greater than 400km/h. The teams make three laps of a 60 km course while intercepting the opponent as they vie for a first place finish. The best machine performance, the best pilots and the best teamwork are the only factors that can make them the winners.

The new season starts this year, as Team Satomi, winner of the lower league IG-2 past season, joins the top league IG-1 competition. Under the guidance of Satomi, the team shrewd female owner, four young pilots, Takeshi, Liz, Amy and River, run for the top of the world! But their opponents in the league overwhelm Team Satomi in every aspect, including strategy and skill, as well as funding. How are Takeshi and his comrades going to face the challenge?
