Opening Ceremony of Clay Journeys: Transcending Boundaries in Contemporary Japanese Ceramics ~ Exploring the Artistic Depths and Cultural Fusion of Japanese Ceramic Mastery with Singaporean Floral Design ~

The opening ceremony of “Clay Journeys: Transcending Boundaries in Contemporary Japanese Ceramics’’ was held at JCC on 7 August 2023. Director of JCC Ms Akiko Kawabe and Director of Dialogue Gallery Mr Ken Ushijima welcomed guests at the exhibition.

The exhibition, which was held till 12 August, showcased ceramic works of five exceptional mid-career Japanese artists, Makoto Yamaguchi, Hiroyumi Suzuki, Toshinori Munakata, Tomoyuki Hoshino and Takeshi Imaizumi presented together with floral design by Singaporean floral artists from Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135.

This unique exhibition aims to present a harmonious fusion of two art forms and we hope to facilitate a meaningful exchange between Singapore and Japan.
