On 13 August, the exhibit “A Master Potter’s Travelogue: A Solo Exhibition by Dr. Iskandar Jalil,” opened at the JCC (Japan Creative Centre). Ambassador Jun Yamazaki and the Guest of Honour Ms. Jane Ittogi, former chairperson of the Singapore Art Museum, kicked off the event with their respective welcome speech addressing over 100 guests that included family and friends of Dr. Iskandar.
Iskandar-sensei is widely known as Singapore's Master Potter, having received the Cultural Medallion in 1988. He also received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette from the Japanese Government in 2015.
The exhibition showcased over 40 ceramic works, each of them connected with the shared theme, “travel,” an essential source of inspiration for Iskandar-sensei’s artwork.
