Japanese paper doll artist Mrs Masako Soeda conducted another exclusive session of Washi Bookmark Workshop to the residents at Siglap East Residents' Committee - SERC under East Coast GRC on Sunday, 2 September 2018. Residents of different ages and races were taught to make bookmarks using beautiful and colourful traditional Japanese paper washi in a shape of a cute doll wearing kimono. They also learnt about the history and making process of Mino washi, a type of traditional Japanese paper from Gifu prefecture that had been listed as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

For those who have missed it, Mrs Soeda will also be conducting another session at Mandarin Gallery on Saturday, 15 September 2018! Stay tuned to their Facebook page for information.
With over 40 years of experience, be sure to catch the works of Mrs Soeda for the first time in Singapore, as well as the beauty of Mino washi, at our exhibition: Beauty and Diversity of Japanese Washi Paper, Traditional Paper Dolls and Contemporary Washi Products at JCC (Japan Creative Centre) from now till Saturday, 15 September 2018!
