The opening ceremony of the Pastel Shine Art Exhibition ~ Tapestry of Japan and Singapore Friendship ~ was held at JCC on Monday, 11 September 2023 with more than 60 enthusiastic guests. JCC Director Ms. Akiko Kawabe started by giving a speech to welcome all the guests at the ceremony, including Japanese Pastel Shine Art members who came all the way from Japan. Following which, the representative of the Group, Ms. Keiko Kawaguchi, proceeded to explain the significance, inspirations, and history of Pastel Shine Art, and most importantly, how she brought and spread the art to Singapore since 2015.

Originated from Japan in 1995, Pastel Shine Art is a form of art that uses pastel in powder form that aims to heal and brighten up people’s lives even in the face of darkness. This exhibition, which runs until this Saturday, 16 September 2023, presents more than 150 amazing art pieces created by members of the PSA community from both Japan and Singapore, depicting images of the two countries, scenes inspired by nature, and much more.
