It was a blast at our JCC Cinema 60: September Fiesta film screenings at Our Tampines Hub last month. '5 Centimetres per Second', an animated movie directed by famous Makoto Shinkai, was screened at the Festive Plaza on 17 September 2017 to over more than 150 audiences of different ages. Also, free popcorn and candy floss were given out to children.
The title of the film, "5 Centimeters per Second", refers to the speed at which cherry blossoms fall from the trees, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift separate ways. The film followed the main character's journey in three interconnected tales of love and lost innocence, which span across the minutes and months of their lives.

This was followed by a screening of 'Always -Sunset on Third Street- 3' on 27 September 2017 at the Festive Arts Theatre. Audience members of different ages came together to enjoy this heart-warming film, based on a long-running manga by Ryōhei Saigan. The film follows the lives of the residents on Third Street during the year of 1964, when Tokyo hosted its first summer Olympics.
Be sure to join us for our next JCC Cinema, so stay tuned to our page!
