Konnichiwa!
September was a delightful month, and I was especially cheered by the screening of Kamome Diner on the last day of the month, which brought together H.E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda of Japan, H.E. Ambassador Paula Parviainen from the Finnish Embassy in Singapore, and H.E. Ambassador Jaya Mohideen, Ambassador of Singapore to Finland. It was a beautiful and lively celebration of our trilateral friendship on the auspicious occasion of celebrating the centennial of the Republic of Finland.
While September buzzed with vigour, October will be a month of grace and grandeur. This month, we have more than 10 different kinds of events, ranging from exhibitions and workshops on the Japanese traditional arts of ikebana and calligraphy, modern art, as well as talks on Japanese housing technologies and the relationship between oral care and diabetes! There will even be an exciting Kyogen demonstration. Towards the end of October we will present a fascinating talk seminar with MUJI on their clothing and goods design.
Furthermore, we will introduce the local charms of Japan by presenting special talks on the yuzu fruits of Kochi prefecture and the tourism attractions of the Chūgoku region. As SilkAir will inaugurate flights between Singapore and Hiroshima, this will be a timely event for those who are interested in visiting Hiroshima and the prefectures in its vicinity.
This October, we have many events that will pique your interest whether you are interested in traditional Japanese arts, Japanese design and food, or travelling in Japan. So, please follow us on our website and Facebook page for more information, and I hope to see you at JCC soon!
See you soon!
