Two sessions of Ikebana workshops by Ms Esther Law and Ms Netty Chu – both of whom are experienced and senior Ikebana instructors from Sogetsu School – were held on Saturday, 25 October 2025 as part of the “Autumn Whisper - a gentle dialogue between season and soul” Exhibition by Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 at JCC.

At the first workshop entitled “Composition of Mass and Lines,” Ms Esther Law taught the participants how to create an Ikebana arrangement of "massed expression" by recognising the line element in flowers and plant materials, and densely gather them into a shape-form. This allowed participants to manifest the idea of 'strength' and 'power' in Ikebana.

Following which, participants were able to learn how to create an Ikebana arrangement without a Kenzan, or flower frog, during the second workshop by Ms Netty Chu. Titled “Ikebana with no Kenzan,” the workshop gave the participants an opportunity to understand the technique of 'Balance' and supporting flowers and materials using the concept of 'natural support'.

During and at the end the workshops, the participants also interacted actively with the instructors and brought back their own masterpieces back home.
