At the beginning of the seminar.
The Next Destination in Japan Seminar was held at JCC (Japan Creative Centre) (Embassy of Japan in Singapore) on Saturday, 14th October 2017, in collaboration with West Japan Railway Company (JR-West), The Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relations, Singapore (J.CLAIR), and Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association Singapore (JETAASG). Many guests, including members from airlines, travel agencies and media, were present to learn more about the local charms of west Japan with in-depth presentations and movies on the places of attractions. Moreover, it will be easier to travel from Singapore to these beautiful areas, due to the launch of Silkair Hiroshima flight on 30th October 2017.

The seminar was opened by Mr Hitoshi Tahara (JR-West), who presented about the sights of Hiroshima Prefecture. The next speakers, Mr Hiroyuki Furuya and Mr Hiroshi Horibe (J.CLAIR), introduced more about the beauty of Yamaguchi Prefecture, specifically Yamaguchi city and Hagi city. Following that, Mr Yosuke Yasuda (J.CLAIR) shared about the attractions of Shimane Prefecture and Tottori Prefecture. Then, Mr Toshihiro Fujita (J.CLAIR) presented about the charms of Okayama Prefecture.

After that, Mr Takuya Kishimoto (The Iyo Bank, Ltd.) introduced the highlights of Ehime Prefecture. This was followed by Mr Masahiro Yabune’s (Kagawa Prefecture) presentation about the delightful Kagawa Prefecture. Mr Takeshi Fukuda (JR-West) proceeded to explain about the services JR-West can offer, such as the convenient JR-West pass and possible travel routes. In addition to the above, Ms Chan May Hwee (JETAASG) shared about her experience cycling along the stunning Shimanami Kaido, as well as some useful tips she learned while in Japan.

At the very end, there was a brief Q&A session for guests to clarify any doubts with any of the speakers. The session was ended with the sure-win lucky draw, and all the participants randomly won a Japan-related prize derived from the prefectures which were featured in the seminar. Many participants also stayed behind to mingle further with the speakers, and expressed a newfound interest to visit these areas of west Japan.

We hope that you will possibly mark these places as one of your next destinations in Japan!
