Opening of Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition in Singapore at Luxe Art Museum

The opening ceremony of Calligraphy Exhibition in Singapore by Japan Calligraphy Art Academy was held on Friday, 20th October at The Luxe Art Museum. This exhibition is co-organised together by Sunstar and JCC (Japan Creative Centre), Embassy of Japan in Singapore. Mr Desmond Tan, Chief Executive Director of the People’s Association, graced the opening as the Guest-of-Honour, together with H.E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda and representatives from various co-organisers and supporters.

A calligraphy performance was also put up by the academy led by Mr Bokushun Kito of its Board Chairman, Representative Director. Three of the masters demonstrated the different forms of Japanese calligraphy – Kanji or Chinese character, Kana or Japanese syllabary and Shin-Shogei or new calligraphy art. The exhibition showcased about 60 pieces of curated masterpieces by members of the academy that was held at The Luxe Art Museum from 21 - 25 October, with daily calligrapher performances from 21 - 24 October.
