Ikebana International (I.I.) Singapore Chapter 135 celebrated its 49th year of establishment at the residence of H.E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda on 11th April 2018. Over 50 guests, including spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Singapore attended this joyous occasion. H.E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda welcomed all of the guests, and Ms Angela Kek, I.I. President, gave a speech on the history of I.I. Singapore Chapter 135 and its upcoming events. Ms Angela Kek also presented a token of appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Kenji Shinoda, on behalf of I.I. Singapore Chapter 135.

After which, guests were captivated by the three exclusive Ikebana demonstrations presented respectively by Ms Jane Tan (Ikenobo), Mr Chris Parry (Ohara) and Ms Eiko Tamura (Sogetsu). Each demonstration was presented in its own distinctive style, based on the themes of “birthday” and “spring”. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony, also accompanied by Ms Akiko Sugita, Japan Creative Centre (JCC) Director. All of the guests were treated to a delicious birthday spread of Japanese and international delicacies.
