Japan Creative Centre (JCC) hosted the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Networking Event in Singapore on Thursday, 22 June 2023, which attracted nearly 50 people from the corporate and government sectors. Mr. Ishikawa Hiroshi, Special Advisor to the Minister of ASEAN and APAC Affairs at Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), kickstarted the event by delivering his opening remarks.
Following this, Ms. Guo Yiran, Head New Energies Office, Energy Division from Ministry of Trade and Industry, spoke about Singapore’s energy transition, and Mr. Law Gee Yong, Director of Policy and Planning from Energy Market Authority, discussed about how they are strengthing Singapore’s market for the energy transition.
Mr. Yamashita Koji, Adviser at Minister’s Secretariat, METI, elaborated on the AZEC and latest Japanese government initiatives. Mr. Masahiro Nishida, Counsellor of Embassy of Japan in Singapore, then delivered the closing remarks and made a toast before the networking session.
The AZEC concept was announced by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in January 2022 with the aim of sharing the philosophy of promoting decarbonisation in Asian nations and cooperating to push forward the energy transition.
