Konnichiwa!
In the month of June, JCC presented several programmes that appealed to both young and the young-at-heart for a fulfilling holiday! Early in the month, JCC presented “Bittersweet Harmony ~ Japanese Hand Drip Coffee & Wagashi Demonstration by the Okada Coffee and Sweets Team ~”. This event allowed participants to try their hand at making their own hand-drip coffee and wagashi, a unique combination! It was lovely to see families, friends, and couples learning how to make their best coffee ever with some tips from the award winning “barista” or coffee brewing master during the session.
JCC also partnered with SSEAYP International Singapore and PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency to present “Capturing Water Conservation Through the Lens” photo exhibition at Royal Plaza on Scotts Singapore. The exhibition features the winning photographs from a photo contest held earlier this year, and raises awareness on the issue of water conservation. The exhibition will run till the end of August, so do visit to show support for the good cause and for the youths that contributed photographs to this exhibition.
JCC also presented JCC Cinema 72: Doraemon the Movie 2018 at Our Tampines Hub. JR West kindly provided brochures for Toyama prefecture, the hometown of the authors that created Doraemon, Fujiko Fujio, and some cute train-themed goods for a giveaway before the movie. I hope that the movie inspired a sense of adventure in its viewers, and that perhaps they will travel to Japan next summer!
Although the summer holidays in Singapore are over, the fun at JCC will continue! Learn about Japanese summer attire at our Yukata Workshop, a popular annual event led by JETAA Singapore. Furthermore, beat the heat of the “dog days of summer” at our second screening of Youjuu Mameshiba as part of JCC Cinema!
