The film centres on a deaf girl, Nishimiya Shoko and a boy, Ishida Shoya who bullied her when they were younger to the point where she transferred to another school. Ridden with guilt, Shoya starts his journey of redemption and hopes to make amends with Shoko.
Produced in 2016 by Kyoto Animation, the film has been met with critical acclaim for bringing difficult topics to the animated medium and its high quality production.
