JCC Cinema 80: A Silent Voice

Mr Xavier introducing the variety of books and media related to Japan at the Woodlands Regional Library
Our JCC Cinema 80: A Silent Voice was screened at Woodlands Regional Library’s Auditorium last Saturday, 16 March. The event was introduced by Mr Xavier Lim of the library and he touched on the many offerings of books and media related to Japan that are available for loan.

The film centres on a deaf girl, Nishimiya Shoko and a boy, Ishida Shoya who bullied her when they were younger to the point where she transferred to another school. Ridden with guilt, Shoya starts his journey of redemption and hopes to make amends with Shoko.

Produced in 2016 by Kyoto Animation, the film has been met with critical acclaim for bringing difficult topics to the animated medium and its high quality production.
