A farewell reception for the 2016 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme participants from Singapore was held at the Japanese Association, Singapore (JAS) on Thursday, 28th July 2016. His Excellency Ambassador Kenji Shinoda hosted the reception and delivered a short speech to all guests.

A total of 25 participants from Singapore will be taking part in this year’s JET Programme, and together, members of the JET Alumni Association (JETAA), executives from JAS and Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore (JUGAS), principals and teaching staffs of the Japanese schools in Singapore, as well as the staffs of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) graced the occasion to give their best wishes for the participants.

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, the JET Programme seeks to enhance internationalisation in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between the people of Japan and those of other nations. It aims to enhance foreign language education and promote international exchange at the local level through the fostering of ties between Japanese youth and foreign youth alike. Since 1987, 4,786 foreigners from 34 countries have participated in the programme.
