Japan Creative Centre is proud to present the "3rd Sustainable Fashion Design Contest".
The objective of this competition is to create an opportunity for students from Fashion Schools in Singapore and Bunka Fashion School in Tokyo, Japan to exchange and promote ideas on the growing importance of sustainability and responsible design within the Fashion Industry.
Sustainability is very much linked to the Japanese philosophy of MONOZUKURI (craftsmanship). The Japanese craftsmanship has a long tradition of producing things that are environmentally friendly, taking into account the fabric characteristics and the environment and made things that last with minimum wastage.
As we are moving to an era which encourages to protect the environment and to be sustainable in our living style, SUSTAINABLE FASHION is increasingly viable and rapidly gaining popularity. This year, the theme for the contest is "STREET COUTURE" and 10 finalists from EACH country will be exhibiting their garments in JCC, while the TOP 3 winners from each country will visit each country with a sponsored return air ticket.
A special award namely the 'People's Choice Award' will be given to both the Japan and Singapore winners who receives the MOST VOTES for their garments during the exhibition.
Last year, the TOP 3 winners of the contest from both Japan and Singapore were given the honorable chance to showcase their garments during the "Japan Couture Evening 2012" to the wide audience from the Fashion industry.

The TOP 3 winners from Japan will be visiting Singapore from 10th - 15th October. During their stay in Singapore, the Japanese students will be visiting Singapore Fashion Schools to exchange views with the local students and visit Singapore Design Labels. TOP 3 winners from Singapore will be visiting Japan from 29th October - 4th November, during this period, they will be visiting Bunka Fashion School in Tokyo and related Fashion places in Japan.
