The Lunar New Year Dinner hosted by JUGAS (The Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore) was held at the Pines Club on 8 February 2009. Following the opening address of Mr. Richard Chua, the President of JUGAS, Ambassador Yamanaka made a speech and expressed his appreciation for JUGAS in promoting friendly ties between Japan and Singapore.

During the party, popular Japanese “Yosakoi Soran Dance” was performed by kindergarteners and primary school pupils. Mr. Koshuzan Ueno, the Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese flute) Master, gave a wonderful performance for the guests that evening.

(Note) JUGAS is an alumni organization of Japanese university graduates with about 350 members. Since the establishment in 1970, JUGAS has been actively promoting friendly relationship and mutual understanding between Japan and Singapore.
