Visit to Singapore by Mrs. Fukuda and Mrs. Koumura, Spouses of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Japan

 
  In the morning of 20 November 2007, Mrs. Fukuda and Mrs. Koumura who were in Singapore called on the VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer at the National University Hospital. Both ladies went around holding the hands of young cancer patients and showed them their support and encouragement. Following the visit, the ladies participated in the programmes (i.e. luncheon as well as tour of the National Museum of Singapore) organised by the Singapore government specially tailored for the wives of leaders attending the East Asia Summit.



The following day on 21 November, Mrs. Fukuda visited the Changi campus of the Japanese Primary School and observed classroom instruction. In the afternoon of the same day, she visited and took part in an exchange of views with students learning the Japanese language from the Department of Japanese Studies and the Centre for Language Studies at the National University of Singapore.
