"The Fuku No Ne Ensemble - Japanese Music Tradition and Innovation -" was
held at Victorial Concert Hall on 29th March 2009 as a pre-opening event of
the Japan Creative Centre, hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore and
the Japan Foundation.

HE Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts
participated in this event as Guest of Honour. Based on "Fuku No Ne (Sound
of Happiness) Trio", composed of UENO Koshuzan (Singapore-based Shakuhachi
Master), UEHARA Junnosuke (Shamisen) and ISOGAWA Mako (Koto), joined by
SUGIURA Mitsuru (17-strings Koto), MATSUO Kei (Yokobue: Japanese
traditional flute), NAGATA Shinichiro, TOMITA Shinpei (Japanese
percussions) and SAKAI Namiko (Taiko drums: guest player), the "Fuku No Ne
Ensemble" entertained the audience with contemporarily arranged Japanese
forklore (Minyo), Japanese festival tunes and Anime songs medley.
