Farewell Reception for JET participants in 2014 (Report)

On 29th July 2014, a Farewell Reception was held for Singaporean JET participants at the Japanese Association in Singapore. Other than the new JET participants, members of JET Alumni Association, executives from the Japanese Association, Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI), the Japanese Cultural Society (JCS), Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore (JUGAS), vice-principals and teachers of Japanese Schools in Singapore, and staff of CLAIR Singapore also attended the Reception. At the Reception, Ambassador Takeuchi stressed the importance of the role of the JET participants in the education field and the local government of Japan. He also expressed his hope that the new JET participants will contribute to the cultural aspect of Singapore and Japan by being a bridge between the two countries as what the former and current Singaporean JETs have been doing.

The number of new Singaporean JET participants for this year’s batch is 18. They will be posted to 16 local governments in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs).
