Ambassador Yamanaka delivered welcome remarks
at the opening of the Roundtable Discussion on The Fukuda Doctrine
and the Future of Japan-Southeast Asian Relations on 3 November 2007
at Shangri-La Hotel.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yamanaka stressed that the three pillars
of the Fukuda Doctrine have remained the basis of Japan’s foreign
policy for Southeast Asia to this day, and Japan will continue to
support ASEAN’s efforts for its integration. The Conference was jointly
organized by the East Asian Institute and the Japan Institute of International
Affairs
