Reception to Celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan (2009) |

On 7th December, the Reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and the 20th anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne was held at the Fullerton Hotel. ![]() The reception was attended by about 480 guests, including H.E. Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and Arts, two Members of Parliament, ![]() Mr Charles Chong and Mr Alvin Yeo, and Major General Ng Chee Khern, Chief of Air Force, who represented the Government of Singapore. ![]() At this year's reception, Sachiyo, a singer-songwriter born in Tokyo and raised in Singapore sang the National Anthem for both countries. ![]() The National University of Singapore's KOTO Club also gave a live performance featuring the Koto, the Japanese traditional harp, creating an authentic Japanese atmosphere.
