The Embassy of Japan in Singapore organized the ASEAN-Japan "Workshop on Engaging with the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan" jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, ASEAN Studies Centre and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) on October 4, 2011 at ISEAS.

In October 2010, ASEAN adopted the Connectivity Master Plan to enhance its regional connectivity, which will ultimately lead to the goal of establishing an ASEAN Community by 2015.

The workshop focused on raising awareness and understanding about the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity among the Japanese and ASEAN business communities by providing them the platform for exploring future opportunities to participate in key projects under the Master Plan. Approximately 130 participants from both private and public sectors took part in the workshop and listened to the explanation and discussion of panelists from the Governments of Japan, ASEAN Secretariat, etc.
