MOKUHANGA (木版画) or woodblock printings, was first brought to Japan in the 8th century from China and was first used to reproduce texts. It eventually became the primary form of commercial printing in Japan with the use of intense colours and now as a form of traditional arts and crafts.

WASHI (和紙), on the other hand, is a Japanese style of paper commonly made using fibers from the bark of the gampi tree, mitsumata shrub or paper mulberry. It is generally tougher than ordinary paper and widely used in traditional arts, as well as making of clothes, household products, toys and religious objects.
