SJ60 CHADO Exhibition 2026 - Harmony -
CHADO・IKEBANA・The Beauty of TENMYO

20 - 24 & 27 - 31 October 2026

Japan Creative Centre (JCC)

Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Ikenobo Mizuma Chapter and Chado Urasenke Tankokai Singapore Association are delighted to present an exhibition titled SJ60 CHADO Exhibition 2026 - Harmony - CHADO・IKEBANA・The Beauty of TENMYO, in which you can experience two themes that each compliment Chado (the Way of Tea).

20 - 24 October: Alongside the Way of Tea, cast ironwork, tea kettles (kama) above all, has long pursued beauty in the natural texture of iron and in designs, traditional and inventive, brought out through casting. The first week of the exhibition explores the relationship between the Way of Tea, the kettle, and other cast works, and introduces the craftmanship and the tradition rooted deep in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture.

27 - 31 October: Senko Ikenobo Ⅰ lived in the Azuchi-Momoyama period, an age of dazzling splendour. The flowers he arranged for the feudal lord Toyotomi Hideyoshi's visit and the Hundred Vase Flower Gathering mark the growth of Ikenobo Ikebana. During the same period, Sen no Rikyu brought the Way of Tea to maturity. The second week of the exhibition presents two paths that appear opposed yet blend in harmony: the floral richness of Ikenobo and the wabi of the Sen family's tea.

This event is part of the official celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan (SJ60).
