Lecture & Workshop

Japan Creative Centre and DesignSingapore Council are proud to present a lecture and workshop by Ms. Hiroko Takahashi who founded her own company 'HIROCOLEDGE Co., Ltd'. The signature feature of the project is eye-catching, graphical patterns composed of a combination of 'Dots' and 'Straight Lines'.

The aim for this lecture and workshop is to enhance their knowledge about how to apply traditional designs and techniques into modern design concept, including its value and meaning.

After lunch (12:00pm to 1:00pm), there will also be a workshop in which 20 guests are invited to make a clothe by using 5 metres black and white cloth without any wastage

(Materials for workshop are to be provided by the organiser.)

*Lunch will only be provided to the guests attending the workshop.

- Students who are majoring in Fashion or Product and Industrial Design.

HIROKO TAKAHASHI BIO DATA

Artist.
Born in 1977.

2006 foundation of the company, HIROCOLEDGE Co.,Ltd.
2008 Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music bestows her the title Dr. of Fine Arts.

Design-Characteristics: Unique combinations of circle and straight lines are hallmarks of her expression.

Her concept: Breaking peoples fixed ideas and provoking new ways of thinking. She is working on various projects such as “HIROCOLEDGE”, an experiment involving collaboration with craftsmen of many different skills.

Re-thinking the traditional Kimono in her own particular way has totally changed the perception of this classic dress. When Hiroko wears her kimonos she becomes “the concept”, or her own portrait, so to speak.
