About Singapore Sogetsu Association

The art of Sogetsu Ikebana was first introduced to Singapore in 1957, by the late Mrs Kazue Kato Kim. It was not long after that she went on to establish the Singapore Sogetsu Association (SSA) in 1966, where she presided over as Founder-President until her passing in 2016.

Currently helmed by Mrs Pandora Ip, a Sogetsu veteran with over two decades of experience, SSA hopes to continue touching lives and effecting positive change through the medium of its floral art.

In line with its founding mission of embracing compassion, beauty, and altruism in support of society’s welfare, the Association is passionate about helping those in need. Every year, SSA organises major floral demonstrations by renowned local and international Sogetsu Ikebana masters in order to raise funds for local charities. Exhibitions supported by Sogetsu members are also regularly held to encourage greater public awareness of Sogetsu Ikebana, as well as offering opportunities for members to express their creativity.

The Association organises classes, exhibitions, workshops, and creative get-togethers to encourage the sharing of floral ideas and inspiration. Classes are conducted for beginners, intermediate and advanced students by Sogetsu-qualified Ikebana teachers.
