Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Embassy of Japan in Singapore, and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) cordially invites you to the first SSP Alumni Meeting in Singapore. The meeting is organised jointly by JCC and JST as part of the 50th Anniversary of Singapore-Japan Diplomatic Relations (SJ50) celebration this year.

This time round, Sakura Program invitees from Singapore will share about their experiences in Japan, especially what they have studied and their future plans towards science and technology. Aside from celebrating SJ50, the meeting is designed to expand relationship among members of the alumni and the public.

About Sakura Exchange Program in Science (SSP)


JST started the Sakura Exchange Program in Science from 2014. Since then, more than 100 people from Singapore have been invited to Japan under this programme. This is the first time JST and JCC will hold this event for the Sakura Program invitees from Singapore to share about their experience in Japan.

Purpose of the Program

Promoting science and technology is a key engine to materialise a bright future for Asia and it is vitally important to enhance youth exchanges between Asian countries and Japan who plays a crucial role in the field of science and technology.


The "Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science" (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science) is launched based on the concept to enhance youth exchanges through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan. This programme aims to raise the interest of Asian youths toward the advanced Japanese science and technologies at Japanese universities, research institutions and private companies.

 

Countries and Regions Eligible for Invitation

The 35 countries and regions are expected to be eligible for invitation for the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science for the year of 2016. They are mainly Asian countries.

Qualifications of the Youth to be Invited

Youths below the age of 40 who is either a high school, university or graduate school student, a postdoctoral researcher or a teacher and has never stayed in Japan before are eligible for the programme.
