Japan Creative Centre (JCC) and JETRO Singapore are thrilled to welcome you to join us for an exclusive and unforgettable experience to appreciate the unique flavours of Japanese rice. Families with young children will be able to enjoy onigiri workshops, while other participants will have the opportunity to taste and compare 4 varieties of Japanese rice that have different textures and flavours.

Mr Shinichi Katayama is the president and the fifth generation of Sumidaya, a rice merchant established in 1905. Well-versed in rice from all over Japan, he creates mellow, fragrant, and flavourful rice by using his excellent blending techniques and the original technique of traditional rice milling. He is committed to passing on rice cooking techniques, and holds rice cooking classes not only in Japan, but also in other regions globally. He also has an extensive knowledge of high-end rice cookers for consumer use and is well-known for his impressions of new models released each year. He is a certified five-star rice master (Japan Rice Retailers Association), and has been featured in major televisions, newspapers, magazines, and many other media. |
