Discover the creative journey of Japanese-trained Singaporean lifestyle product designer and artist Ros Lee, consisting of a talk, exhibition and a special “Hinamatsuri” design workshop. The exhibition features Ros’ latest collection of art and design works inspired by the Japanese traditional festival “‘Hinamatsuri”’, also known as doll’s day or girl’s day in Japan. Polkaros Hinamatsuri is proudly presented by Japan Creative Centre (JCC), in collaboration with the Japanese University Graduate Association of Singapore (JUGAS).

About the Artist

Ros Lee is a Singapore-born lifestyle product designer and artist whose main passion is to make art and design for everyday life with ceramics and textiles. Having studied and worked in Japan for more than ten years, Ros’ creative works combine influences from Japanese traditional crafts with modern “zakka” (everyday lifestyle) designed goods.

In this opening-talk, Ros Lee will share her experience in studying and working in Japan as a Singaporean designer, and her cross-cultural and interdisciplinary creative approaches in her work and business.

Ros Lee will conduct a workshop to share how to design and make mini figurines inspired by “Hina-ningyo” (Japanese dolls) out of stone clay from Japan.
