Join us at Japan Creative Centre (JCC) to learn and appreciate Nihon Buyo. Mr Naya Reitoku of the Reitokukai Japanese Dance Group will give an in-depth introduction to this traditional Japanese dance, alongside a demonstration. He will also perform a series of dances together with his disciples.

About the Artist


Mr Naya Reitoku started to learn traditional Japanese dance in 1988 at the Japanese Cultural Society, Singapore under the tutelage of Ms Hanayagi Jusetsuga. From November 1993, he went under the direct tutelage of Ms Hanayagi Momonosato.

He received the teaching license and the stage name "Naya Reitoku" from Ms Hanayagi Momonosato in 1994. Together with 6 members, Mr Naya Reitoku established the Reitokukai Japanese Dance Group in 1996. He was appointed as Head of Singapore Branch (Dance Division) of Reisenkai Japanese Cultural Institute of Tokyo in 2008.

The Reitokukai Japanese Dance Group has performed at multiple events such as Super Japan and Japanese Summer Festival in Singapore, and Reisenkai Spring Event in Tokyo, Japan. The group has also conducted workshops for educational institutions including Queensway Secondary School, Temasek Polytechnic and NUS Japanese Studies Society.
